How to create range of addresses to be excluded
Previous Page

Create the range of addresses desired (a.k.a. SAR) and edit the Range type. There is an "Excluded" option at the bottom of the drop down list.

Known quirks of the DNSDHCP console.

-You can’t copy (i.e. CTRL-C) anything in the DNSDHCP console but you can paste (i.e. CTRL-V) from other programs.

-The DNSDHCP console warns you that you should not delete IP addresses while the DHCPSRVR.NLM is up. Even though you can disable the DHCPSRVR.NLM from the console, the NLM is still technically running. You must unload while deleting addresses.
-When you create a new DNS Zone it warns you that *YOU* should create an A resource record for
the host server domain name and a PTR record in the IN-ADDR.ARPA zone. It should offer a menu to give you the choice to automatically to either, both or none. Ironically it does create a NS record for the Name server automatically. (BTW: if you don’t, you get LAME DELEGATION errors)
-When you enter an IP address manually you must manually separate each 2 bytes portion of the
MAC address with ":". It is not smart enough to re-format it for you.
-Client identifier IS the MAC address again (if done with auto-assignment.) No real explanation inthe help as to what this is for.
-To assign a IP address in a SAR IP range you cannot add the address by selecting the Subnet
Address Range object where you want to add it to. You must go up to the subnet object and add it there. The DNSDHCP console will automatically place the new IP address object in the proper range. If you select the SAR IP range object and try add an IP address manually, the selection is not there. The kicker is there is no mention of the workaround in the help or in the TID database!
-The Audit trail logs are DOG SLOW. But you can save them to a file and then read them or use a
Btrieve report generator like Crystal Reports. The only good thing about audit trail is that they archive themselves.
-To do a search or a sort you must export NDS to a CSV file and then use a spreadsheet program.
