Step by step how to upgrade
Note: These are instructions to upgrade from
DHCPSRVR v.2.x. Before trashing the old
server copy these files to floppy:
SYS:\ETC\DHCPTAB and SYS:\ETC\DHNORESP.CFG.
Note: SYS:\ETC\DHNORESP.CFG is the MAC address exclusion file.
Upgrade server as usual except install the DNSDHCP server software in
addition to the defaults.
- Install the DNSDHCP Management Console to the workstation by running
SYS:\PUBLIC\DNSDHCP\SETUP.EXE.
- Launch the DNSDHCP Management Console by
clicking on it's ICON.
- Select the treeclick on the DHCP
Services Tab.
- Click Create (little yellow box) and create a DHCP
Server Object.
- You will be asked to select the server object
that you will be loading DHCP on.
- Click Create
- Click on the Import button
- Browse to the DHCPTAB on the floppy, click Next
- It prompts you for a "Corresponding MAC
address file",Browse to the DHNORESP.CFG on the floppy, click Next
- Select which of subnets on the floppy you want
to import and click Add
- Enter the NDS context where the new DNS objects
will be created in (usually the same as theserver’s) Click
Next
- The "are you sure" screen, Click Import
and Wait
- Select the DHCP Server object you just created
- Click OK
- Select the DHCP Server object you just created
(again)
- Click OK
- Click Finish
NOTE: If you are able to click the
Details
button than something went wrong. Save
the error message to a file to view
properly.
Select the DHCP server icon at the bottom
Select the
options tab
In Audit Trail and Alerts Option
Select
Major events
select Ping enabled at
the bottom of the window.
Click on the Save Icon
Now go to the server and
Load CSATPXY.NLM (see TID 10014766)
Load DHCPSRVR
What you should see?
On the server console, you should set a status screen like the old version if
you used the "-d1"
switch.
On the DNS/DHCP console, the red slash across the server should be gone after
about one minute of
uptime. If not, click on
the refresh button. If that doesn’t work still, exit the DNS/DHCP console and
get back in.
